Stump Grinding Service Questions
Stump grinding is a process that involves using specialized equipment to grind down a tree stump into small wood chips. This effectively removes the visible portion of the stump.
We generally grind stumps to a depth of 6 inches below grade, but we can go up to 15 inches below the surface upon request. Additional costs may apply for deeper levels.
Our equipment is designed to minimize damage to surrounding areas. However, there may be some minor disruption to the soil and grass immediately around the stump. We’ll do our best to mitigate any potential damage and thoroughly clean up after the job.
Typically, the wood chips generated during the grinding process can be left on-site to decompose naturally or used as mulch in your garden. Alternatively, we can haul them away upon request for an additional fee.
Rain or severe weather may affect the job scheduling. We’ll communicate with you if there are any weather-related delays.

After Stump Grinding Questions
Afterward, most of the tree’s visible stump and roots are gone. But the underground root system often remains. These roots will undergo decay over time. It can take years, depending on the tree’s size and the environment.
Afterward, you can usually plant right away. Prepare the area first. It’s important to remove wood chips. Also, add fresh topsoil and compost to improve its quality. For grass or small plants, replanting can happen right away. For larger trees, it’s best to wait a few months to allow the soil to settle and recover. Proper preparation ensures healthy growth for new plants.
